In recent research it was found that if the blood clots are occurred in your lungs then Catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) should be considered as first line treatment option for serious clots. The CDT is done in hospital radiology suite by interventional radiologist who inserts a catheter into vein in the leg and threads till it reaches the side of the blood clot. Once the catheter tip reaches to the clot, the thrombolytic drug is infused into the clot through the catheter. Then the blood clot dissolves within few days.
