After Lap Band Surgery there is a band on the upper part of your stomach and your body does not be comfortable with the band for first few days. It takes time to become comfortable as it was proved after analyzing lap band surgery patients. According to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) near 90% patient reported at least one of the following side effects like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, heartburn and sometimes the slippage of the band. From them up to 25 % patients again went for the lap band removal surgery just because of they were unable to live with those side effects. The list of side effects is long and one of the common side effects is Gastro Esophageal Reflux (Regurgitation).

This is one of the chronic symptoms or mucosal damage that produced due to the abnormal reflux in the esophagus. This can lead to Esophageal Dilation. Nearly 34% of people in the entire patient who have some side effects after lap band surgery suffer from gastroesophageal reflux (regurgitation). In some reports it has seen that the esophagus has stretched or dilated in the patients. The gastroesophageal reflux is classified as:

1. Physiologic (functional) gastroesophageal reflux – Those who suffer by this have no underlying predisposing factors or conditions. Growth and development are normal and pharmacologic treatment is not necessary.
2. Pathologic Gastroesophageal reflux or Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) – In this the patients frequently experience complications like liver problems, erosive esophagitis, esophageal stricture formation, chronic respiratory disease.
3. Secondary Gastroesophageal reflux – It’s the condition that may predispose to gastroesophageal reflux. People can have asthma and gastric outlet obstruction.

Living with the GERD is miserable and you will feel excess pain in your chest, throat and mouth. You will have sleeping problems and experience heartburn which is really not pleasant. Things you should follow to get rid of gastro esophageal reflux are:
