Although it is a minimally invasive weight loss surgery which takes less recovery time than other surgeries, it has some side effects too. One of the most seen side effects is Nausea and Vomiting. Nausea is a sensation of feeling uncomfortable in the upper stomach and head with an urge to vomit. In general it occurs when people eat or drink more than their capacity. Since after the lap band surgery the stomach pouch is separated in two parts by the band so that the patient need to eat less in order to lose the extra weight faster. If they eat more then there are chances that they feel the sensation of nausea and this change to vomiting.
Nausea and Vomiting for a few times is a normal as your body is still does not become compatible with the band but if the nausea and vomiting is going to be excessive then this causes to the lap band slippage and then you have to again go for the Lap Band Surgery which again cost the same.
To stop the nausea and vomiting follow these steps:
1. Tell you doctor about this problem and ask for any medicines for the anti-nausea. Generally these medicines are provided just after your lap band surgery by the hospital.
2. You can also try the Gas-X strips since it helps cutting down the gas pain that results nausea.
3. Walking is a good way to be comfortable when suffering from gas pains. But remember that you just went through a surgery so don’t push hard your body and walk on the treadmill at your home with low settings. If you are going outside then prefer to take someone with you so that he or she can take care of you if any problem occur.
4. Check the medicines that are prescribed to take after lap band surgery because sometimes these medicines can cause nausea and vomiting. The liquid Tylenol can be used for the pain suppresser as it does not cause nausea and vomiting.
5. Take little food and prefer liquids. Manage the time duration between two meals as your body now need more time to consume the food intake.
6. Don’t eat the chunky food or hard solid food as it is tough to digest. Go for the juices which do not have some kind of fibers and seeds since they can also cause nausea and vomiting. First peel the fruit and then take the juice in limited amount.
7. Don’t try to sleep just after eating or drinking because it can be the cause for nausea and vomiting. Stay sitting up so that the body will digest the food faster and easier using gravity.
